About us

The events of the world in which we each find ourselves, both on a global and a personal level, may seem to be largely governed by random events, which are without reason and over which we have no control.

Different people try different ways of finding meaning and purpose in their lives: some through their careers, some through personal achievement in some other sphere, some through their families, some through their social life with their friends, some through their devotion to a particular cause.

For nearly all of us, though, there are times when we become aware of an emptiness in our lives and wonder if all our hustle and busy-ness is just a way of distracting ourselves from the inevitable purposelessness of existence.

However as Christians, we believe that there is purpose to life, that the universe is not a random accident, but that there is a God by whose will the universe and ourselves, as humans, came into being.

What we believe

There are many different Christian churches and denominations, but all have the same basic calling - to worship God, to share the good news about Jesus Christ and to work for the good of all people.

So they often need to work together, as well

as co-ordinate the work they each do

separately. When they do, they are acting as

Churches Together.

But being Churches Together means more

than that. It means commitment by each church

and denomination to deepen its fellowship with

the others and, without losing what makes each

interestingly different, to work with them towards a greater visible unity.

What we do

As Christians, we meet together, usually in our churches, to worship God: to show him how much we love him, to talk to him and to get to know him better.

We can show God's love to those we meet in our everyday lives: our neighbours, friends, work colleagues, people we meet walking down the street or in the shops. We can also show God's love for those in particular need, locally or worldwide.

As church members we are involved in projects working alongside and aiming to improve the lives of those suffering deprivation or discrimination locally, both in Lichfield City and in the rural areas of our district.

On a global scale, Lichfield Christians show God's love for those in developing countries by playing their part in campaigns to change those attitudes and structures which do not give the poor a chance.
