MESSAGE FROM THE FABRIC VAULT
Good afternoon all ![]()
We need your help, please!
Our wonderful Poppies Project with Lichfield Cathedral is growing bigger every single week, and we are absolutely blown away by the kindness, creativity and support from our community already. ![]()
Over the next 18 months, together we are hoping to create a huge community-made poppy installation for Remembrance 2027 — made entirely from handmade poppies created by people of all ages and abilities.
Our free community stitch sessions at the Cathedral are designed to be welcoming, relaxed and inclusive social events where anyone can come along for a chat, some creativity and a bit of mindful making — whether they are complete beginners or experienced crafters. ![]()
But… we need more helping hands. ![]()
We are looking for friendly volunteers who can:
Knit
Crochet
Hand sew
Chat and encourage others
Help us create a warm and supportive atmosphere during sessions
You absolutely do NOT need to commit to every session. Even helping occasionally would make a huge difference to us and to the people attending.
Many visitors coming along are trying crafts for the very first time, some come for company and connection, and others simply want to feel part of something special. Having extra volunteers means we can properly support everyone and keep these sessions welcoming and accessible for all. ![]()
If you enjoy crafting, meeting people, encouraging others, or simply being part of a lovely community project, we would truly love to hear from you.
Please send us a message if you think you may be able to help, or pop into The Fabric Vault for a chat.
Together, stitch by stitch, we are creating something really special for our community. ![]()
