RIDE & STRIDE

The National Ride+Stride event is on 13 September 2025. Individuals or groups can travel between churches and raise money through sponsorship. This is a great opportunity to raise funds for your church and have an enjoyable time doing so. People can travel by car, bike, on foot - anything. Many churches will be open on The Day.

What you can do:

• Have your church open on the day to greet visitors, maybe with light refreshments (squash, biscuits, cake perhaps).

• Get a Sponsorship Form  

• Collect sponsors to back you to travel, either to specific churches, or just to visit as many or as few as the Spirit takes you.

• Go visiting on 13 Sept - or another day if busy then – but you’ll miss the refreshments.

• Send your Form and sponsorship money to our Treasurers, who will remit 50% back to your local church. The county charities that support repairs and maintenance of our historic churches are once again running a day of discovery on foot, saddle or car.

The rest goes to help with the work of the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust and Staffs Historic Churches Trust, who award grants for the maintenance and improvement of churches.  Maybe you have had a grant in the past.

Last year £40,000 was raised in Shropshire and 93 Staffordshire churches took part, opening their doors for visitors who collected sponsorships and donations while discovering the spirituality and charm of many village and town churches.
